The House of Zan — Redevelopment
Development · Site-wide · June–November 2026 (Ongoing)
Much of this period has been devoted to rebuilding existing creations, developing new ones, and reconsidering how the entire structure fits together as the ideas behind The House continue to expand in scope and ambition.
Cycle I: Coming on Strong has undergone substantial redevelopment, with its original Records being reworked around voices, relationships, attraction, and the complicated business of getting to know other people. Alongside it, I’ve developed an entirely separate, 26-piece Kawaii Edition, complete with its own narrator, personality, companion music, and creative standards.
The redevelopment has also involved refining the individual identities and purposes of The Record, The Blacklight, The Nerve (formerly The Playbook), and The Hidden Girl, with greater attention to how constructed voices, analysis, practical perspectives, and fiction operate independently while contributing to the larger Cycle structure.
The Echoes has been revisited and reorganized to strengthen its place as a collection of shorter, independent pieces.
The House Map, navigation, and broader organizational structure have also been reworked, with The Opus and The Expanse providing a clearer structure for the expanding range of creations.
As the scope of The House expanded, Devotional Architecture was given a more distinct place within The Expanse, separate from the central creative forms of The Opus. The framework develops the Archetype Dynamic as a legitimate, purposeful lifestyle choice, adaptable beyond kink and intended to help individuals establish greater structure, responsibility, and dependability in their own lives and relationships with others.
The Welcome introduction has been extensively rewritten, and the site tagline reconsidered to better represent the full scope of The House, its humanist perspective, and the increasingly varied forms of expression found within it.
Behind the scenes, development has continued across The Mythos, The Weight, and the later Cycles, alongside new drafts, editorial frameworks, companion tracks, indexes, reader pathways, and the ongoing process of bringing extensive offline material into the public-facing House.
These are the major developments of the period, alongside numerous individual revisions, creative experiments, and ongoing improvements to both the container itself and the art it presents.
Some of these changes are already reflected in the structure. Others remain in development, revision, or preparation for publication.
Earlier Additions, Revisions & Development
The House of Zan — Initial Development
Development · Site-wide · December 2025–June 2026
This period marked the initial development of The House of Zan as a website and an interconnected body of writing, bringing earlier creations, evolving concepts, and new material together within a shared structure.
The original direction was rooted in an ethical, kink-focused undertaking, intended to offer a thoughtful, artistic perspective on roles, dynamics, power exchange, consent, trust, and the responsibilities that accompany them. The emphasis was on examining these subjects as meaningful aspects of human relationships and experience, rather than reducing them to sexual practices or common misconceptions about kink.
The Cycles began taking shape as a larger creative structure, with their early titles, themes, and recurring formats being developed to connect individual pieces within broader sequences.
Cycle I: Coming on Strong underwent its first substantial redevelopment, revisiting material originally created before the website existed and reorganizing it within the emerging Cycle structure. This established an earlier version of Cycle I, preceding the more extensive reinterpretation that would follow later in 2026.
Cycle II: Coming of Age also entered significant development, expanding into more personal territory involving identity, relationships, lived experience, and the influences that shape who we become. Alongside it, the recurring forms of The Record, The Blacklight, The Playbook (the first version of what is now The Nerve), and The Hidden Girl helped establish different approaches to expression, examination, practical understanding, and fiction.
The Echoes emerged as a dedicated collection of shorter, independent writing, with its own index and introductory structure. The early material explored subjects ranging from personal experience, memory, privacy, and relationships to desire, cultural observations, and humor, establishing another way to enter The House without committing to the longer Cycle sequences.
As Cycle II continued expanding, its structure became more elaborate through the development of four Authorship Intermissions, examining voice, early world-building, revision, creative labor, and the growing questions surrounding human authorship in the age of AI. Dedicated framing pages and revised navigation established how these intermissions fit among the Records and provided a structure for similar developments across the larger Cycles.
The foundations of Devotional Architecture were also being developed, giving a more formal philosophical structure to the original direction of ethical kink, intentional dynamics, and alternative lifestyle roles.
Is It Normal? Real Sex & Kink Answers was developed as a question-driven educational series addressing subjects people often hesitate to ask about, including sex, kink, relationships, desire, consent, boundaries, and safety. Drawing on experience in kink and sex-positive spaces, the series was designed to approach these questions with clarity and dignity, challenging shame and misinformation while emphasizing personal responsibility, informed choices, and the importance of consent.
Early experiments with audio and recorded voices also began reaching the website, expanding the possibilities for presenting material beyond its written form. Dedicated pages for Exposed Zan and Incoming Zan were introduced to document meaningful developments and provide readers with a clearer picture of what was being created and prepared.
Meanwhile, the website itself began taking form through its early pages, navigation, organizational systems, and the ongoing process of adapting offline material for public presentation.
These developments were accompanied by extensive drafting, revisions, research, creative experiments, and supporting material that helped establish the website and its early collections.
Much of what emerged during this period would continue to evolve, with later development expanding The House beyond its original focus. These early efforts established the first recognizable framework for the larger artistic universe that followed.
