Neptune Nowhere (In or Out)… (1-16)

Content note: Covers sexual/romantic identity labels, prejudice, and how people filter or reject others based on assumptions.

In this lifestyle, a vast majority of participants can be very skittish.

Just as with most any other individual, my lived experiences have shaped and formed my turn-ons just as much as my turn-offs.

While this can be critical in forming one’s true identity, I try to keep “my door” to the universe open to anything positive that may want to walk through.

I’m a firm believer that the spirit of the lifestyle is to allow a person to express themselves and evolve freely, without judgment or preconceptions — at least not before direct interaction.

This is why I try not to be overly specific about my preferences when it comes to what I find favorable in another person.

When adding self-imposed labels, funny enough, I believe it can unintentionally shut out those that would normally embrace a person.

I have found that, if I am seen as anything besides a straight white male, there will be people who will not engage with me at all.

Somehow, from their knowledge of the world, this may make me seem to be an uneducated sexual deviant, anti-Christian, or even worse cringe “woke.”

Anyone who spent just a little time with me would find these things to be untrue and, frankly, laughable.

Likewise, if I were to identify as a straight white male, there are those who would not only refuse to engage with me on this platform, they would likely reply in a very negative way — possibly due to the sea change in how “straight white males” have been framed in recent years.

Again, somehow, from their knowledge of the world, this may make me seem to be a pile of different buzzwords that didn’t exist until recent times, when it became acceptable to engage our so-called oppressors with a “fight fire with fire” attitude instead of the equal but different approach that finally seemed to be getting through to the masses.

I will say, as a past or present card holder for nearly all alternative lifestyles or self-identities I’d qualify for, it is cosmically hilarious to me that anyone would believe I wasn’t deeply progressive, inclusive and “insert label” AF.

So, do you think you know any better if I am “in or out”?

Let’s try a third option: Does Not Apply.
