If submission to another person is considered a gift, then the responsibilities of the one in control should be considered the sacrifice.
I wholeheartedly agree that true submission, freely given to another, is beautiful.
There is another side to that beauty.
The moment someone allows you influence over their feelings, choices, trust, body, or sense of safety, receiving that trust creates something of your own to give up.
Freedom from responsibility.
The more freedom someone gives you, the less freedom you have to be careless with it.
When approaching another person from a position of control, I believe this is the correct perspective to take.
If you step into another person’s life with a sense of entitlement, based solely on how they describe themselves or the role they say they want, that is where failure begins.
For both individuals.
A person can call themselves submissive.
They can say they want to surrender.
They can even ask you to take control.
None of those words make their will less their own.
Whether you are the one who gives submission or the one who takes control, the sanctity of another’s will, to give themselves or to accept responsibility for what has been given, could be considered a beautiful sacrifice of freedom.
