THE HOUSE OF ZAN — Zan
“It’s not her fault they didn’t put her together right.”
— Fear
Some people recognize each other while they are still strangers.
Pain can sound familiar even when the details are different.
One says what the other could never put into words.
Recognition can make the rest easier to reveal.
That can feel safe.
Especially when attention reaches things usually kept private.
An expectation that people leave.
A hope that somebody will prove otherwise.
That kind of understanding may already be intimacy.
Access can follow.
Someone who learns what hurts you might know how to protect it.
Those details could show where to press.
Their connection may be real.
Trust might have formed.
Neither automatically makes the person holding that knowledge safe.
Sometimes being understood feels so much like being cared for that you forget to ask why they wanted to know.
